Young swedish Producer Poja Shad teamed up with his buddy Simon Jones to create this beautiful tech house remake of Jose Gonzalez’s chilling track Crosses. Looking forward to hearing more from these talented young guys in the near future!

British producers Marco Darko and Mykel Haze have teamed up to produce a number of hot n steamy deep house tracks in the last little while. Marco Darko has been getting a lot of exposure as of late, working with labels such as Hot Creations and Sleazy Deep while gaining support from SKMB fav artists like Finnebassen and MANIK. Mykel Haze is no stranger to the underground house n techno scene either, maintaining long standing club night Disco Electronica in Manchester. Both of these artists have a whole bunch of awesome work, so check out my favorites below and more on their soundcloud pages.

Out of Chicago we have Chance The Rapper, an MC who has recently taken the hip hop world by storm. His latest mixtape Acid Rap is being touted with some very lofty labels. A “game changer” some say but as the phrase goes, only time will tell. Personally I am a fan from start to finish and even with this on repeat I don’t imagine it getting old anytime soon. Chance brought something that was unique and artistic featuring collaborations with less known artists that contributed to making Acid Rap a stand out. You can download the entire mixtape for free which is just the icing on the cake of a great addition to your music library.

And if you wonder where the name Acid Rap came from look and see what Chance had to say about creating the mixtape. “I’d do hella LSD before a lot of the sessions,” “It just allowed me to open my mind and ask more questions. That’s really what the album is, a lot of really good questions.”

Toronto based producer and visual artist Tavis Lochhead, who goes by the moniker Logichead, offers up some deep, dark and powerful underground vibes in his latest song Third Floor that us here at SKMB love oh so much. I can picture myself groovin hard to this at a grungy warehouse party in a trance-like bliss. Keep an eye out for this one, I guarantee he has a lot more up his sleeve!

Hi I’m BIKES. You may remember me from such blog posts as SKMB Guest Mix – BIKES and BIKES: Retrograde EP. It should come as no surprise that my first post is about a French Express artist. My love of sun-drenched, tropical disco aside, if you explore their catalog of mostly free releases, you will see that the caliber of their output is second to none. This time around Moon Boots steps up and delivers an absolute scorcher for the upcoming summer season. Bouncy tropical percussion, feel good piano chords, sultry vocal samples and a thick, funky bass line combine in the kind of jam that’ll make you want to dance with your feet in the sand and a little umbrella in your drink. With the summer fast approaching, I can safely say that this is one tune that will be getting rinsed on the regular.

Welcoming the season with summertime grooves is LA duo Classixx’s new album Hanging Gardens. I fell in love with Classixx many years ago for their dancey house sounds, and credit them for directing me towards the realm of feel good music at a pivotal time in my musical journey. With a mix of dreamy vibes, soft vocals, and playful house beats, Hanging Gardens is easily one of my favourite albums of the year from beginning to end.

We are super excited to be teaming up with the Electric Owl Social Club in Vancouver BC to highlight upcoming events at FUNFUNFUN Fridays. Since arriving on 926 Main Street back in 2011, the Electric Owl has been hosting some of our favorite local and touring artists, from Humans and WMN STUDIES to Flume and TEED. With neon owls, pretty lights and a vibe unlike other venues in the city, the Owl has become a staple spot for us to enjoy our nights out.

We are looking forward to showcasing the Electric Owl’s friday night shows weekly here on SKMB as we aim to help acquaint people to the awesome mix of artists being brought in for FUNFUNFUN. Stay tuned for frequent ticket giveaways, feature posts and artist interviews.

SKMB favourite and all around cool dude Wax Romeo will be back in Vancouver this coming friday May 17 for a night of damn good house music. Mandeep’s sets are dark, deep and quirky, yet still upbeat and easy to move to. After spending well over an hour listening to literally every one of his tracks on sound cloud, I have officially fallen in love with Lane 8. San Francisco up and comer Daniel Goldstein, who goes by the name of Lane 8, has a very unique sound that intrigued me within seconds of listening to his latest track Sleepless. The style of his tracks seems to be a hearty blend of feel good house vibes, cheesy disco, pounding drums and  carefully selected vocal samples with a little sprinkle of quirkiness, just to keep it interesting. All of which I love. Don’t even get me started with his remixes. He beautifully compliments the originals with just a touch of buttery smooth house vibes that transforms the track and makes it ever so hard to sit still to, but I mean, why would you want that? The best part about Lane 8′s Soundcloud is that he is giving all of these gems away for free, so head over to his page and grab em while they’re hot!
